If you had met us 4 years ago this is who you would've met: a man with a tan, who just moved to Tennessee from Hawaii, and loved taking pics of the ocean and surfers, and a girl who was busy working with children with Autism, and enjoying taking photos of all the kids in her life.
Now we are a husband and wife, and our love for photography connects us in an authentic way, but even more than that our children have tied us together in the deepest way possible. What did we do before we had kids? It all seems a bit blurry, and meaningless to be honest. Our kids are the absolute joy of our life and heart. Life would be so different without them. We would be missing a key ingredient in our main dish, true joy.
So, you want to know more about us? Well, Matt loves making up rap songs about everything from Cheddar Bunnies and Cleaning Up to Poopin' and Doing Somersaults. His secret dream is to be a children's rapper and singer. It would be like Raffi meets Danger Mouse. Shayna absolutely loves Food Network and the Cooking Channel and secretly wishes she could have her own cooking show called "Mother Flippin' Cooker" where she would show how to cook healthy kid-friendly dishes on a budget or create amazing meals from the remnants of your pantry's barren shelves, she would probably teach a few smooth dance moves too while she's flippin' pancakes.
We have the most amazing kids: Linden is almost 2 and is the life of the party wherever we go. He loves to dance and he can really get down, plus he has the sweetest singing voice. He loves to make up songs (just like daddy), he likes buildin-nin(as he calls it) stuff with hammers, is obsessed with reading books, loves animals of all kinds, snuggling, giving hugs and kisses, he loves to wear hats and sunglasses, and best of all he loves people of all shapes, colors, and abilities. He has the gift of deep intuition and he can sense just what you need, when you need it. Also, sweet baby Lyric, she came 5 weeks early, and is our little miracle-fighter. She's a miracle for sure, but also the fighter in her comes out when she's hungry or when she needs some extra attention. We call her "dragon princess" cuz she grunts all the time and sounds like a little monster. She's super tiny, but has already made a big impact on our lives. Her big brother loves her so much, it's precious to see how he has taken to her. Wow, we are so blessed to have been entrusted with these precious children, what a true gift.
Our life is full of emotion and passion, and our experiences have shaped how we see our world. We see beauty in things that are often overlooked as unimportant. This viewpoint is a big part of who we are, and you'll discover it in our artistic creations.
